Not bad, but GTA doesn't have that much depth of field. I'm not quite sure, but I think you want to blur the centre-right of the background more and enlarge slightly, flattening the perspective.

If you can, it would be better to retake the background image with a longer focal length, so you have a properly flat picture to start with.

I'm afraid my art consultant isn't around right now for me to check these things with, but I hope I've got that lot the right way around :)

So did you redraw everything (with vectors maybe?) or did you "just" edit the pic? Looks very good although the background needs a bit more work to blend in.

Yeah I'm still working on the background, but Its expanded with vectors in illustrator then moved over to photoshop and manipulated with brushes to give it a more painterly look that the GTA Illustrations have come to have.

Are you studying graphic design, or something of that ilk? If you are, just talk about GTA's art being a pastiche of Art Nouveau, mention Toulouse-Lautrec - the cover art is pure HT-L - and, as if by magic, your tutor will think you're a genius.

Heh, I don't have the highest opinion of graphic design professors. Some are very good, but a lot more are tendentious idiots who follow wherever someone with sufficient self-confidence leads. All you have to do is bullshit with real feeling, and then, if they dare disagree, just mutter sadly 'well, not everyone can see it'.

You may not want to take my advice completely literally, but at the end of the day if you can't persuade someone that GTA is sodding cubist if you have to, you're going to have trouble selling your work to clients. I you can't blind them with brilliance, baffle them with bullshit.
